“Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit has highlighted the film, television and digital content industry as an important component of the Creative Economy. Thailand has not only become a hub of the digital content industry in the region but also presents the energy and spirit of Thailand to the world – Thailand’s Soft Power.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges to many industries worldwide. Our support for the creative economy was more important than ever. We adapted to the situation and used online, virtual, and hybrid events to maintain an international presence. Thailand’s cultural identity and creative spirit are raising Thailand’s Soft Power internationally and bringing economic opportunities.

There are six core areas which we identified as powerful representations of Thailand’s Soft Power, and which will be highlighted for promotion by the Department of International Trade Promotion in 2022. One of these is the digital content industry.”

Over 6,000 potential buyers and investors will visit the Marché du Film at Cannes between 17th and 25th May. It is an opportunity for Thai companies to expand the market for their content, explore new world markets as well as reconnect with current partners and find potential collaboration for investment and co-production.
