Boston Caribbean Fashion Week Returns Virtually With A Focus On Business And The Current State Of Fashion In A Covid World

The Boston Caribbean Fashion Week returns in 2020 as a virtual business expo featuring more than 25 expert talks and the usual array of catwalk presentations. Recognising the changing fashion landscape, the four day event named ‘BCFW Expo 2020: Reconstruction of Fashion’ aims to inspire designers to ‘Reimagine, Redesign and Revitalize’. Virtual attendees will gain valuable insights to help them adapt and grow their own businesses

This year’s expert speakers will share key advice to get ahead in the industry and address the issues likely to impact the industry over the coming months. Key note speaker Jay Calderin, a noted fashion writer and founder of Boston Fashion Week will share his must-see presentation detailing the nine keys to navigate a career in fashion; Responding to the recent protests, speakers Joelle Fontaine from I AM KREYOL and Marie-France Noel from Kadokele will discuss the challenges business face navigating Black Lives Matter; Considering the impact Covid-19 has had on fashion education, Judy Ross from School of Fashion Design, Renee Harding from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Kathleen Potter from Lasell University will present ‘When there were no more classes’; Recognising that Covid-19 is an international issue designer Mark McDermoth from Uzuri International in Jamaica and Heather Jones from Heather Jones Designs in Trinidad and Tobago will discuss how the pandemic has impact the Caribbean Fashion Industry. Dozens of other speakers will offer advice and insights to help any budding fashion entrepreneur kick start their enterprise.

Kicking off the final day of the expo, and recorded at the iconic Rose Hall Great House in Jamaica, our virtual attendees will all have a front row seat at a unique and inspiring fashion show. This is a rare chance to see the latest designs by AnnaLisa Guthrie, Cheryl Robinson, Earl Williams, Richard Leslie, Karl Williams and Mark McDermoth.

Founder and Executive Producer of Boston Caribbean Fashion Week Althea Blackford explained that she: ‘created this expo as a way to bring together fashion professionals to connect with each other and provide valuable business resources so you can become profitable and efficient in your fashion business’.

The virtual expo runs from 5pm (EST) on October 14 to 8pm (EST) on October 17 with a wide variety of daily presentations to choose from. Early registration is recommended and costs $17.
