California Bicycle Coalition Announces 7th Annual California Dream Ride 2020 and Six Single-Day Dream Ride Experiences

Sacramento, CA – The California Bicycle Coalition has announced that the popular 2020 California Dream Ride will return for a 7th year in October 2020, going from Santa Barbara to Oceanside, 290 miles over 5 days. Funds raised support CalBike’s campaign for safer streets and for purchase incentives to help people buy e-bikes to replace their cars.

A majority of riders are returning riders who say it’s the experience of a lifetime, with excellent food and drink, comfortable hotels, a supportive staff, beautiful vistas, and new friendships.

To make the Dream Ride the most accessible five-day tour in California, the organization welcomes e-bikes and supports an e-bike contingent. They’ll even provide e-bikes for riders if needed.

Early bird registration is now open and slots are expected to fill up fast.

In addition to the main event from October 4-9, 2020, the California Dream Ride will host 6 free monthly one-day local Dream Ride Experiences throughout California, allowing anyone to taste the Spirit of the ride, meet the team and spend the day exploring a unique part of California.

The California Dream Ride Experiences will take place in the following locales:

  • West Los Angeles. Saturday, March 21, 2020
  • Napa Valley. Saturday, April 18, 2020
  • Santa Barbara. Saturday, May 16, 2020
  • Monterey Bay. Saturday, June 13, 2020
  • Orange County. Saturday, July 18, 2020
  • Mt. Tamalpais. Saturday, August 15, 2020

From October 4 to 9, 2020, the full five-day California Dream Ride will take 100 riders 290 miles from Santa Barbara to Oceanside, and will feature camaraderie and community-building combined with pleasant accommodations, great food, and a dedicated support team.

Debbie Brubaker returns as Tour Director for the California Dream Ride for the seventh time. For Brubaker, riding a bike isn’t about attaining a certain level of athletic accomplishment; it’s about personal empowerment and enjoyment. With that in mind, she designs tours that mix community-building, scenic riding, fun history, great food, and comfortable accommodations so that each day riders enjoy new discoveries, not only about the world of bike advocacy but this beautiful state we live in — all by bike.

“The California Dream Ride is the only fundraising ride in California where 100% of the proceeds benefit bicycling,” says Dave Snyder, Executive Director at the California Bicycle Coalition, or CalBike. “It’s all about our vision for connecting our communities so that your 12-year-old, your elderly mother, or your friend who’s just getting comfortable on a bike, can all easily ride bicycles to get where they want and need to go. It’s all about building sustainable, healthy, and equitable communities across the state of California by making it possible for people to bike, walk, and take transit.”

Riders on the California Dream Ride will help make that dream a reality by raising funds and awareness for the California Bicycle Coalition’s work advocating for better state policy to build a more sustainable, equitable, affordable, and joyful transportation system.
